Australian Doctors for Africa (ADFA) is a Perth-based not-for-profit providing medical outreach and development to East African nations. They needed a website that was clear, compelling, and easy to update—something that told their story, enabled donations, and showcased their impact. Here’s how we delivered a platform they can grow with.
The Challenge
ADFA’s previous site was outdated, hard to navigate, and not mobile-friendly. Information was buried, and potential donors struggled to find the right links. With limited admin support, ADFA also needed something easy to manage without technical knowledge.
We were tasked with delivering:
-
A modern, responsive design
-
Clear donation pathways
-
Impact storytelling with strong visual support
-
Integration with existing fundraising tools
-
A content management system that non-tech users could handle
My Approach
We started by learning what made ADFA unique: their long-term commitment, field experience, and partnerships with hospitals in Madagascar, Ethiopia, and Somaliland. We then mapped out a structure that would make the site intuitive for donors, volunteers, and medical partners.
Key features included:
-
A clean homepage with real imagery from their medical missions
-
Sections highlighting ongoing programs, partner hospitals, and volunteer opportunities
-
Case study pages showing the impact of donations and field work
-
Embedded donation forms using their preferred payment provider
-
Newsletter sign-up and contact forms
To keep costs down, we used a lightweight WordPress framework and trained ADFA staff on how to add content without breaking the layout.
The Outcome
The finished site is fast-loading, easy to use, and accessible on all devices. It tells ADFA’s story visually, makes donating simple, and gives the organisation full control over updates.
Results include:
-
300%+ increase in time-on-site and newsletter sign-ups
-
Clear donation funnel resulting in increased online contributions
-
Positive feedback from donors and field staff alike
